By Skyler Howes: 2 Stroke/4 Stroke race: I got to the line a little late and my gate option was very slim. I decided to take an out side gate and hold it wide around the out side. It was a very fast gate and my tire spun quite a bit making my jump a little lousy. I was able to come out in second just behind the eventual overall winner Tracon Kirk. I rode just out of his roost around the moto track, using him as a guide to judge all of the jumps. He put a gap on me by the time we got to the off road section and with the dust I really wasn't able to gain back any time. After the first couple of laps I decided to just really relax and cruise. By this time Tracon had pushed hard and gained a good lead on me. I took a breath and just motored on the rest of the 1 hour race, having fun on the moto track and playing it safe in the off road. The rest of the race was pretty un eventful. I rode mistake free and had a lot of fun. I came in second overall and 1st 2-stroke pro. Skyler Howes on his Blais Racing/ Fasstco, Kenda, Bullet Proof Designs KTM300XC Open/Lites race: About 10 minutes before this race I decided there wasn't anything better to do besides race. I signed up, threw my gear on and lined up, again on the out side. This time it worked to my advantage. I was able to hook up and pull the holeshot. By this time the track received quite the beating from previous races but still had some good lines burned in. I hit the off road loop and pinned it. After a couple of corners, I took a quick glance back and could not see a soul. I relaxed, took a nice deep breath and just motored in. I really had a good time this race because I knew the lines around the entire course. There was a couple of photographers out there so I threw some goon poses and a couple of good whipper snappers. I came in to the finish with another mistake free and fun race but this time with the overall win.
