BLAIS RACING/FASST CO RACE REPORT!
ROUND 7, NHHA - SUGARLOAFERS MC
JERICHO, UTAH
BY: BEN MEZA
Going into the second Utah round, I was really excited to get back to that area!
I was coming off not only two wins at the past weekends District 37 race, but I
had also just wrapped the championship up for my class at the last round. I was
feeling really comfortable, and I was going to focus on getting a better overall
position.
Race day came up faster than expected, and I was feeling good about the line I had
chosen on the extremely short bomb run. I got a great jump off the line and tried
to work my way to the front, I was probably somewhere around top 15 halfway down
the run. By the end of the bomb run, my Blais Racing KTM had pulled me up to the
top 5. I stayed smart and tried to focus as I saw countless riders crashing to the
right of me. I backed off slightly in fear of doing the same myself. The first loop
was ridiculously dusty, and it was all about staying smart.
I made it into the pits running 1st in class and 13th Overall, the team got me in
and out before I had time to think, everyone was super pumped on how well I was
doing, and it really amped me up! I took off on the next loop and really just wanted
to stay consistent, the loop started out with a long whoop section, and it was super
sketch! I held it wide and just skipped across them thanks to my great ESR/Race
Tech Suspension! I made a quick pass for 12, but unfortunately clipped a tree allowing
him to pass me back. Looking back I'm super lucky I didn't hurt my hands, and I'm
super thankful for my Fastway Handguards!
I came back into the pits after my second loop and was still running 13th, I got
another quick pit, and had a new mission, catch anybody I could in front of me!
I charged as hard as I could, and was only able to catch and hold off one person,
at the end of the race I was soo tired! I got my best finish yet, and kept my win
streak going, which I was stoked about! I really am thankful for the help of each
and everyone of my sponsors! I feel like this is a team effort, and all parts are
putting in their time! Thanks everyone!
